As a consultant for financial institutions and a member of the Scientific Advisory Board at WEPEX, I work on the resulting implementation issues. And as a professor of Banking & Finance, I research these questions before they reach the field.

I speak on Artificial Intelligence in the financial sector, strategic change, and what AI specifically means for executive boards, supervisory boards, and management levels. Grounded in a real decision your organization faces. My topics range from AI and Agentic AI to the AI enablement of organizations and the specific challenges faced by small and regional banks, which can rarely finance and shape change on their own.

I am a Professor of General Business Administration with a focus on Banking & Finance at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics & Management, where I teach and coordinate modules on Digital Finance, Financial Technology, and Financial Literacy.

At the same time, I am a Professor of Practice in Finance at Golden Gate University in San Francisco, where I supervise doctoral students on topics such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. This combination of German and American universities shapes my perspective.

I spot early what’s emerging in Silicon Valley and translate it for the European market.

12,000 kilometers lie between Düsseldorf and San Francisco. For me, they are not a detour, but a perspective. What is speed in the US only becomes sustainable in Europe through diligence. This translation is a core part of my work.

Personal

My home is the Ruhr area, my second rhythm is San Francisco. Commuting between the two—one calm and reliable, the other fast and open—is part of my life and work.

As a professor, I often support people over many years, from bachelor’s and master’s degrees to doctorates. I enjoy this long-term connection. What drives me is less the technology itself than the question of how people make good decisions when much is uncertain. I take this curiosity with me onto the stage, into research, and home.
